1. Introduction

IAP2 Canada recognizes the ongoing need for practitioners, decision–makers, leaders and others we support to have the skills and understanding to contribute to quality public participation (P2).

The IAP2 Canada Training Steering Committee (Committee) was established in January 2017 to develop a three-year training strategy to ensure IAP2 Canada is able to effectively support the professional development for P2 practitioners. IAP2 Canada intends to use its strategic training framework to:
  • Develop its members, staff and associates
  • Prepare and support practitioners for a breadth of P2 related experiences
  • Inform its program development
  • Influence its partners and stakeholders
  • Develop new clients/members by strategically responding to needs and interest of an identified training market
  • Generate revenue to support organizational sustainability
In developing this strategic framework, the Committee has drawn on input and advice from several sources including:
  • Past research
  • Past consultation with P2 experts (IAP2 Canada members survey)
  • IAP2 Staff and Committee members
  • Consultation with other IAP2 Affiliates
We think it’s time to now reach out to IAP2 Canada members for your input, which we will use to develop a draft strategy before presenting it to the IAP2 Canada Board of Directors this Fall. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey and for providing your valuable input.
