Thank you for your interest in applying for the WSSC Water Emergency Customer Relief Fund administered by United Way of the National Capital Area. WSSC Water created a temporary program to help customers struggling to pay past-due water/sewer bills. Eligible customers, including current and former federal employees and contractors, are encouraged to apply for this one-time credit of up to $750.

You will receive a notification within 5–7 business days informing you if you have been approved for assistance.

Customers must meet the following eligibility requirements:
  • Reside as an owner or tenant at a single-unit residential property
  • Have a delinquent balance as of the date of application
  • Meet at least one of the Area Median Income (AMI) or employment criteria in the following table

If you meet these eligibility requirements, then you will need the following documents to apply:
  • WSSC Water account number
  • Copy of past-due WSSC Water bill or reminder notice
  • Income verification documents such as:
    • W-2
    • Pay stubs
    • Tax returns
    • Bank statements (with payment deposits)
    • Benefits letter
    • 1099
    • Court-ordered income
    • SSI statements
  • If applying as a current or former federal employee or contractor, proof of employment such as:
    • W-2
    • Pay-stubs
    • Government issued identification
    • Employment verification letter
    • Copy of contracts and invoices
