Circle of Welcome Activities for Refugee Families

For nearly 80 years, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) has been a champion for refugees and migrants from around the globe. The history reflects American Lutherans’ deep immigrant roots and passionate commitment to welcoming newcomers, especially those who are most in need.

The Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church Refugee Action Team has been meeting for the past several months, discussing the particulars. We've consulted with, and are, learning from representatives of LIRS to discern how our congregation may be one of the Seattle Churches to sponsor a refugee family. There are many 'moving parts' to consider and this is where you come in.

Sometime, in the recent past, you've expressed an interest in being one of the volunteers to assist a newly arrived refugee family. There are a number of different tasks that will need to be completed, thus the need for many hands (and hearts). We'd like to know just what you might be willing to tackle.

Please, take this quick survey, kind of a 'check in', to see what activities most appeal to you. That is, what tasks might you be willing to tackle, either as an individual, as family, or part of a team. Your responses will be collected and used to determine the strength of our congregational team. You will have a future opportunity to review and refine your responses, but for now the committee needs this information to move forward.
