Research Australia has led the call for a National Health and Medical Research Strategy, following member-wide consultations across 2020-2021.
Throughout the initial consultation of the National Health and Medical Research Strategy process, we have been working closely with Rosemary Huxtable AO PSM and her team at the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (the Department).
On 27 August 2025, the draft Strategy was released and sets out a 10-year vision to strengthen Australia’s health and medical research system. Phase 2 consultations are underway, inviting stakeholders to provide formal feedback through submissions and participation in various forums.
This Research Australia survey aims to collect insights on the Strategy's strengths and areas for improvement from the perspective of Research Australia’s members. Your feedback is crucial to inform the development of actionable solutions to address the sector’s needs and ambitions.
We invite you to please complete this survey by COB Monday, 6 October 2025 to allow time for us to incorporate your insights into our submission. If you would like to discuss your responses in more detail or would like to discuss other options for contributing to Research Australia’s submission, please contact policy@researchaustralia.org.
