10 Year Vision for Pharmacist Practice

To assist PSA in developing our 10 Year Vision for Pharmacist Practice, and building upon initial feedback received at the Pharmacists’ Futures Forums in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, this survey is an opportunity to hear from all pharmacists around Australia regarding the challenges that you face in practice and the opportunities for change.

With the 6th Community Pharmacy Agreement expiring in 2020, it is also important to develop a plan for future funding, services and models of care for pharmacists working in primary care.
Thinking about primary care (that is the services and care provided by pharmacists outside of the hospital setting):
1.What are the 3 biggest challenges / issues that you see with the community pharmacy agreement and/or other funding/service arrangements within primary care?
For each of these issues – what are the possible solutions needed to address these challenges?
2.The PSA has set a clear agenda for the expansion in the services offered by pharmacists in the future, can you outline three new services that you would like for the next community pharmacy agreement?
3.Thinking about how we might improve what pharmacists do within primary care, what are three system changes or enablers that might allow improvement in the role and activity of pharmacists in the future?
4.What additional qualifications / training do you think will be required to perform any expanded and advanced services identified above?

5.Remuneration & funding of pharmacists and pharmacist services has been identified as the number one priority within the profession. What are the factors that are influencing pharmacist salary and wages where you are employed / where you employ staff?
6.We are interested in better understanding the ways that pharmacists can be ‘remunerated’ or recognised aside from salary and wages specifically. What additional work ‘benefits’ do you either receive as an employee or offer your employees?
