Information about the Survey
Purpose:
This survey is part of Vance County’s Broadband initiative. We invite all Vance County residents and businesses to complete this survey to help us assess our community’s internet needs. The goal of the initiative is to learn the current extent of broadband service in Vance County and to attract Internet service providers to the county that can offer expanded services and higher speed options. Your address on question 1 is critical so that we can identity the underserved areas of the county.
Definitions:
Broadband Internet: Broadband is Internet access that is always on faster than traditional dial-up access. Broadband refers to any type of transmission technique that carries several data channels over a common wire. Both DSL and cable modem are common broadband Internet technologies. Other forms of broadband include fiber (FTTH) and fixed wireless. Mobile: Mobile broadband is Internet access that uses cellular telephone infrastructure, accessed in conjunction with devices such as smartphones, tablets or air cards for laptops. Satellite: Satellite Internet delivers broadband speeds via satellite equipment generally installed on the roof of a home or business, and requires a clear view of the Southern sky.

By participating in this survey, you are agreeing that Vance County and the NC Broadband Infrastructure Office may seek to contact you to follow up on your service request. In addition, your information may be used to analyze pockets of broadband service requests around the state. This information may be shared with relevant broadband service providers or community planners in an effort to identify service solutions.
