Call for Emily Dickinson-inspired writing!
In celebration of our NEA Big Read book – The Essential Emily Dickinson – we invite community members to submit Dickinson-inspired short poems or micro-prose for inclusion in an anthology-style zine entitled Dickinson in the Desert. The zine will be publicly launched in June 2027 as the culminating event of the Big Read, and contributors will be invited to read their work at the launch.
Guidelines: Submit one short poem (30 lines or fewer) OR one piece of micro-prose (300 words or fewer), or Dickinson ephemera using this survey. The deadline for submissions is April 5th, 2027.
Due to limited space in the anthology, we can only consider the first 50/100 submissions.
The anthology will be curated by Rosemarie Dombrowski, Phd., inaugural Poet Laureate of Phoenix and humanities scholar/programming curator for the Big Read.
