Cajun and Zydeco Music Heritage Academy

The St. Martin Parish School Board is considering the development of a Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco Music Heritage Academy to open next school year, 2016-2017.

The academy will be located at Catahoula Elementary and will offer vocal, instrumental, and dance instruction from a renowned local artist along with enrichment in Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco history and other cultural interest from guest instructors.

In the first year, the program will enroll students in grades K-4 from the St. Martinville, Breaux Bridge, Parks, Cecilia and Catahoula attendance zones.  The program will expand one (1) grade level each year until all students, K-8, are involved.

Transportation will be provided to the Catahoula campus both to and from school every school day.
