2027 Maine Public Health Association Policy Ambassador Program Application
Maine Public Health Association (MPHA) works to advance health for all people and places in Maine. Advocating for policies that break down barriers to health and uplift systems that support it is a key strategy for achieving those aims.
We are looking for a small group of MPHA members to serve as public health policy ambassadors to support our legislative priorities. The ambassadors will go through a training course in advocacy skills, and work alongside MPHA staff throughout the legislative session to educate policymakers and push for solutions to critical health issues.
Policy Ambassador Roles/Responsibilities:
- The policy ambassador role is a two year program, aligning with the two year legislative session.
- Attend weekly calls throughout the legislative session, which will include advocacy skills trainings.
- Take at least 3 actions each year to advance one or more of MPHA's policy priorities (could include actions like writing a letter to the editor, meeting with a legislator, or testifying on a bill)
If you have questions about this opportunity, please contact Matt Wellington at mwellington@mainepublichealth.org. Please complete this application by Friday, Dec 11th at 5pm.
