The Port Stephens Environmental Advisory Group (EAG) meets quarterly, providing community representation to Council for consultation, advice and advocacy on environmental matters in the Port Stephens LGA.
The key objectives of this group are to:
- Provide community representation for consultation, advice and advocacy on environmental matters, including biodiversity, climate change and sustainability, in Port Stephens.
- Share and preserve knowledge network and build environmental understanding across Port Stephens.
- Identify opportunities for community-based environmental projects and collaborations across Port Stephens.
- Promote the importance of the environment within the community.
The EAG operates under the Environmental Advisory Group Terms of Reference, which also outlines the membership requirements – Check out our EOI pack for more info. An expression of interest is currently sought for a general community member representative who resides, works or studies in the Port Stephens LGA, who want to contribute to Port Stephens environmental protection and enhancement. Council will work to accommodate all members so that they can attend whether online or face-to-face.
Council is seeking one (1) independent community representative (not affiliated with an existing established community group) to fill a vacancy in the EAG for the remainder of the Council term (until September 2028).
