Playful Communities & Neighborhoods

Would you like your neighborhood to be a more Playful Place for adults and children as well as engage with the your local authority?

Playful Communities are a low cost and easy way to turn streets into play spaces. At Playful Communities children and neighbours can safely play and socialise outside — just like you did when you were young. Playful Communities are big or small occasions. They can be one-off or regular activities in your neighborhood.

Selected applicants will have the opportunity to receive training and loan out play packs to independently organise and run future events.

If you would like to run a Playful Community in 2026 please fill in the below contact form. Their will be a maximum number of Playful Communities which we will be able to support. Our aim is to ensure an equal spread of activities throughout county Waterford. These will be assisted by a project coordinator. Each successful application will be supported on the delivery of a Playful Community in your area by Waterford City and County Council , Waterford Sports Partnership & Ready Steady Play.
