RSP FRIDAY NEXT LIVE Sketch Submission – 2025

This year’s RSP Fall Experience gives you the opportunity to apply for a leading spot on stage in a featured sketch. Below you’ll find this year’s sketch options. Here’s how it works:

> Review the list of sketches.
> Choose the one that speaks to you most.
> Submit your application.

Please note: You may only apply for one sketch.

#1) "I’M FIFTY... AND FIERCER THAN EVER!" SNL Throwback to Molly Shannon's "I'm 50" character
> Time: 7-10 mins
> Concept: A modern rework of Molly Shannon’s iconic leg-kicking chaos—this time it’s not about random 50-year-olds but about turning "RSP 5 meets SNL 50” into a moment of glorious GenX celebration. For example: we open the show with a wild monologue, dance break, and audience callout—yes, there may be confetti cannons.
> Submission Prompt: Bring your own twist to the “I’m 50” energy—whether it’s a monologue, movement, or spoken word piece that celebrates age, rage, or reinvention. Make it funny, fierce, and full of flex + do not care club or creative take of your liking.

#2) “THE EXIT INTERVIEW RELOADED” SNL Throwback to Rachel Dratch's Debbie Downer meets old-school office parodies
> Time: 7-10 mins
> Concept: She’s not just exiting the job—she’s exiting all the things. Each line is more unfiltered, outrageous, and satisfying than the last. Bonus: a musical sendoff to the toxic job.
> Submission Prompt: Reimagine your own exit interview. What would you actually say if you had nothing to lose and everything to gain? Can be comedic, heartfelt, or both.

#3) “GENX WELLNESS CHECK: HANS & FRANS, BUT HOT FLASHES” SNL Throwback to Hans & Frans
> Time: 5–7 mins
> Concept: A GenX duo (or trio) teaches “new strength training” that includes boundary setting, power posing, and rage dancing to Salt-N-Pepa. They’re here to PUMP YOU UP—but also offer hormone-friendly stretches and “reclaim your time” mantras.
> Submission Prompt: Want to be one of the Hans/Frans 2.0? Submit a comedy or movement-based sketch that mixes physicality with empowerment—no real biceps required.

#4) BIRTHDAY ENERGY: THE MIDLIFE PARTY SKETCH” SNL throwback, surprise party sketch meets Kristen Wiig
> Time: 12 mins
> Concept: A woman walks into what she thinks is a quiet dinner—only to be met with a surprise birthday bash where each guest represents a different decade of her life (20s Hustle, 30s Baby Showers, 40s Burnout, 50s Breakthrough). Ends with her blowing out candles and saying, “This time, I’m making a wish for me.”
> Submission Prompt: Create a short scene or monologue that explores what celebrating yourself at midlife looks like. Funny, sentimental, or unhinged—surprise us. Put link next to the sketch…..use AI to turn yourself into younger versions of yourself….the surprise bday party.

#5) “THE CAREER FAIR FROM THE FUTURE” SNL Throwback commercial parodies / future tech spoofs
> Time: 6–8 mins
> Concept: A job fair in 2045. AI coaches are overwhelmed, GenZ bosses are offering “vibe checks,” and the only job you really want is the one you invent yourself. Ends with a powerful nod to self-made paths and reinvention as revolution.
> Submission Prompt: Think futurism meets satire. Submit your take on a job title or interview from the future that makes us laugh and rethink success.
#6) SPOKEN WORD + STILL HERE +++ (see list topical focus list below)
> Time: Submit your original piece. Must be 3-4 minutes.
> Concept: You have a spoken word piece, rhyme, from local/green talent highlighting reinvention, rage, growth, healing, ambition, and owning
> Submission Prompt: Your original piece can be raw, rhythmic, hilarious, or haunting—just make sure it’s real. Here are some topical areas that you might focus in or submit on:
1. The realities of what we’re in …. and what it means to be ‘us’ today.
2. Change, transition + pivotal moments… and perhaps the moment you 'knew' you were in it (describe / share)
3. Scary things you’ve overcome and a look to the future (ie., positive growth; getting comfortable with the change that I am in…and it’s a new space…and so on)
4. Share out of a Ready. Set. Or Pivot. moment you had

#7) "SNL WILD CARD" SNL Throwback to a moment and character/s you choose.
> Time: 5-7 mins
> Concept: There's a character you're burning to be and this is your chance to BE it.
> Submission Prompt: Pick your topical change, struggle, positive, fun, rewarding area of change and highlight it to and through the SNL character that speaks the most to you.
