Thank you for your interest in joining PAHL’s Belvedere Peace Community Garden (BPCG)! Our Garden, which is a combination of rental and charity plots, is a valuable community asset that serves our community in so many ways! We are excited about your interest in BPCG and we hope you will find great satisfaction through your participation.

Belvedere Peace Community Garden (BPCG) plots are rented per season (spring/summer; fall/winter) or annually for a full year from January 1 through December 31. Dues are payable on January 1 for the upcoming year and a member must be in good standing before Jan 31. Otherwise, that member’s right to a plot will be forfeited. A plot is a single 4’ x 8’ area of soil with access to water, tools, and, if available, compost. New rentals are limited to plot availability in any given year. A member who renews a plot rental may change plot location at the beginning of a new rental term and only if the desired plot is available.

New plots may be rented throughout the year. Rental fees are non-refundable, and rentals are not transferable. Plots are assigned after payment is received.

A member must be at least 18 years of age. Members can visit the BPCG from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. All children must be supervised. PAHL reserves the right to close the BPCG at any time for maintenance purposes.

Question Title

* Before filling out an application, please read and agree to the following guidelines.

As a plot holder at the BPCG, I understand and agree to follow these planting and maintenance guidelines:

1. I agree to plant within 30 days of receiving my initial plot assignment. I agree to cultivate my plot and will keep the plot weeded and tended. I agree to harvest or donate ripe produce and mature crops. I will harvest only from my plot unless given permission by another plot holder to harvest from his or her assigned plot. I will avoid allowing produce to be wasted or to rot.
2. I agree to follow the organic standards in the Garden’s guidelines. I agree to use only organic soil, fertilizer, compost, and mulch. I will use organic seeds and transplants whenever possible. I agree that I will NOT use non-organic herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, or fungicides. I agree to use non-toxic materials such as untreated wood, cinder or concrete blocks, or landscape bricks for a raised bed. I will NOT use treated lumber.
3. I will keep the area surrounding my plot clear of debris, weeds, and overgrown crops. I will plant crops and decorate my plot in a manner that does not unreasonably encroach on another gardener’s space or access to sunlight. I agree to follow the Garden’s composting procedures. I will water wisely and remove all trash from my plot and the surrounding area. I understand that the Garden is a waste-free zone. I agree to show consideration for fellow gardeners, Garden property, and the community at large.
4. If I am temporarily unable to work my plot due to illness, work, or other reasons, I will immediately notify the Board. I will notify the Board immediately if I must permanently abandon my plot. I understand that the success or longevity of the BPCG or individual plots cannot be guaranteed.

The Board strongly encourages members to donate to charity any excess produce and can provide details about how to make those donations.

I understand and will follow these additional guidelines:
I will drive and park on paved surfaces only.
I will NOT smoke or use illegal drugs or alcohol on the premises.
I will use language appropriate for a family environment.
I will NOT bring a pet inside the main Garden fence. Service animals are the only exception.
I will keep the Garden gate closed and will lock the gate and tool shed if I am the last person in the Garden.
