Advent Children's Series
Brief Survey
We’re offering a mini series for kids during the Advent season and would love your participation and feedback to make it meaningful for your child. This will be an experiment! Our goal is to try something and then make adjustments based on the needs and desires of the community.
How it will work:
You will receive a packet of materials by November 21 that will provide materials for lessons through the first week of January. The theme would be Advent (Season anticipating the birth of Jesus into the world) and Epiphany (when the Wise Men/Magi arrive).
Each week you will receive an email (by Friday) with a link to a secure YouTube video where Janelle Stuvland (Pastor Brett’s wife) will provide a 10-15 minute Bible lesson/story from Godly Play. Godly Play has a storytelling, wondering style to it, allowing the kids to think about and come to some of their own conclusions about Bible stories with the teacher providing background and guidance as to their meanings. It will also include an activity as a way for the kids to respond to/engage with the lesson. Coloring sheets (and activity pages for ages 7-12) will also be included each week as an activity to keep kids busy during the main service.
You can choose if your child watches the lesson while you are participating in the online service on Sunday (for example, your child using another device for the Godly Play story), or you can watch the story in advance so that you can participate with your child. Children under 5 will likely need help with the reflection activity each week.
There will be an opportunity for children to share their work in the main service, as a way to have a real-time interactive component since Janelle cannot facilitate a live class at this time.
We will seek your feedback throughout the process as we learn together and feel free to reach out along the way as well.
