The Andy Diehl On Being a Doctor Creative Writing Competition

Entries for the 15th annual On Being a Doctor competition for ACP Medical Student and Resident members are now being accepted.

The theme for the 2019 competition is:

Resilience in Medicine

- Membership in ACP is required for submission.
- All essays must be submitted as a Word document.
- Submissions must be original prose or poetry and limited to 1,000 words or less.
- Submissions should not have been previously published, although unpublished, previously presented work will be accepted.
- Submissions will be judged on language, expression, clarity, uniqueness, flow of thought, and appropriateness to the theme.

The winning author will be notified no later than Wednesday | September 25, 2019 and will be invited to showcase their work during the TXACP Annual Meeting October 26-27, 2019 in San Antonio! The author will receive reimbursement for their travel expenses to attend the TXACP meeting. The winner will be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon and will receive a travel stipend to attend the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting April 2020 in Los Angeles, CA!

Additional submissions may be invited to share your story in the chapter's first STORY SLAM on Sunday, October 27th!
