Reflections on African Union’s Free Movement of Persons Agenda

The survey is framed to elicit broader and forthright perspectives on the AU flagship project – Protocol to the Treaty Establishing the African Economic Community Relating to the Free Movement of Persons, Right of Residence and Right of Establishment also known as the AU Free Movement of Persons Protocol, towards advancing it for continental integration as envisioned in Agenda 2063.

5.Since there is a strong ambition to accelerate economic growth on the African continent, what opportunities could your industry avail to stimulate economic integration via the mobility of people across other regions within Africa?

7.How must Member States proceed with its political commitments in the signing of the FMP Protocol to action? (Given that 32 MS have signed FMP, but with a significant number not having ratified).What strategies/ Which key actors should be engaged to move the needle?
8.Considering other continental and regional integration initiatives such as African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), regional protocols on movement of persons, how can these frameworks be synergized with the AU FMP Protocol to realize a common objective?
