About the position
Thanks for applying to be a GASP board member or advisor. GASP is a private, non-profit 501c(3) organization. GASP funding comes from tuition (85%) and from two grants. one from the state dept. of education (ExCEL ASES) and the other from the city (DCYF Equitable Access).
The GASP board governs the organization. Board membership requires roughly 10 hours per month and duties include:
· Define the vision and the mission of the agency.
· Set the goals and select the strategies that will enable the agency to achieve the desired future.
· Ensure that agency finances are properly secured and that resources are properly mobilized.
· Manage the relationship of the Board to key constituencies, including Grattan administration, GASP parents and other stakeholders
· Monitor the Board’s performance in meeting time schedules, accomplishing tasks, achieving goals, and corporate solvency.

An advisory board is also being established to provide insight and assistance in focus areas such as academics, enrichment and fundraising.
