2020-2021 Planning for Opening NWISD

Question Title

* 1. Which grade will your child be in for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year?  Please answer 1 survey (separately) for each child, as some children may have different options depending on their grade level and your family make-up.

Question Title

* 2. In our previous survey, 30% of you are considering an online/remote/learn from home model due to concerns regarding Covid-19.  Here is some information to assist you if you choose this platform:
* We are working to provide more Wi-Fi hotspots (one per family) & computers (one per student)
*The state will require any student remaining at home to provide DAILY progress - this could be conference/communication with the teacher, turning in an assignment, or some other measure as determined by the state
*Students will still attend 90% of the school year in the online/remote/learn from home model-attendance is required
*Grading will be the same for at home learning or face-to-face learning
*There will be more requirements, but these we know at this time.
*At home learning will cover new material and will not be self paced

Obviously, the other 70% of you selected an in school platform.  Due to Covid-19, there will be some safety precautions that are put in place.  We do not know all of these at this time because the state has not released final guidelines at this time.  Please know that these items may change, as we receive more guidelines, but at this time, items that are being considered include:
*Social distancing as appropriate (limited access to building by parents - no lunch room visitors, limited classrooms to the cafeteria at one time for lunch due to square footage at each school or lunch in the classroom, smaller class sizes, recess as smaller gatherings, etc..)
*At this time masks will be optional for students and staff (this may change due to state requirements)
*No use of water fountains (students may bring a clear water bottle to use)
*Education on hand washing/sanitizing protocols, etc...  Students will have access to hand sanitizer and be encouraged to use often.
*Frequent cleaning during the day and nightly sanitizing of the classrooms and building
*Temperature Checks on staff and students daily
*When a child or staff has a fever, they will need to be fever free for 72 hours or have a doctor's note to return to school, upon return, a temperature check will be taken
*Bus travel - Those of the same household may sit together, others will be spaced out in different seats
*Playground material will be sanitized after each class

We expect more requirements, but these are the ones that we know to date.  As updates or changes occur, we will inform our parents.

Based on these current items that will be put in place, which platform are you planning on selecting for your child (the child that you selected for this survey).  If it is different for an older/younger child, please remember you will complete a separate survey for that child.

Question Title

* 5. Thank you for taking this survey as it assists the administrative team of NWISD in making decisions for our 2020-2021 school year.  In this time of uncertainty and limited information from the state, we will do our best to update you as we gain new information.  If you have any additional comments, please feel free to add them at this time.
