Proposed Speed Review
3.6km from Kawerau township traffic lights to past Onepu Springs Road

Kawerau District Council is asking the community for their views on whether to review the speed limit and potentially extend the 70kmh speed limit on State Highway 34 from just beyond the traffic lights at Fletcher Avenue for another 3.6km beyond the railway crossing and Onepu Springs Road turnoff (as shown in map).
This is an initial community consultation step being undertaken by Kawerau District Council to understand the communities’ views.
Any formal speed review would be a separate NZTA-led process, subject to further assessment, consultation and decision-making requirements.State Highway 34 from just beyond the traffic lights at Fletcher Avenue for another 3.6km beyond the railway crossing and Onepu Springs Road turnoff
