The Parish Council is mindful that in the parish there are vehicle collisions and instances of bad and dangerous driving, but not all of these come to be reported and reflected in the official statistics which policymakers use to make ongoing assessments of both local road safety and the impacts such incidents have on residents’ health and wellbeing.
To enhance its understanding of the scale of any under-reporting, the Council wishes to begin collecting its own information from residents on all incidents in which they are involved or witness in the parish so that it can build a database to understand what is actually occurring on a day-to-day basis, not just events which require to be reported (although doubtless there will be some overlap). With this additional data we can see whether it provides a further tool to lobby for new or improved traffic calming measures.
