Strategic Public Finance Planning Readiness Assessment |
Strategic public financing is a process that allows states, communities and Native nations to assign a cost to the goals and policy priorities for their children and youth and, ultimately, to identify ways to cover those costs. It often builds on existing strategic plans by addressing the following three questions:
1. Current funding: How much money supports our goals right now?
2. Needed funding: What is the gap between what we have and what we need?
3. Sources of additional funding: Where can we find additional money to fill the gap between what we have and what we need?
States and communities can bring together the power of fiscal maps, cost models, and analysis of potential sources of additional funding to pair great plans with tangible resources. The combined and coordinated effects of those tools embody strategic public finance planning.
The purpose of this assessment is to help us understand your community's unique starting point. There are no wrong answers here.
