This Hudson County initiative is a paid internship that offers students an experiential learning opportunity to connect with local employers, and build career-ready skills at $20/hour. With opportunities in skill-based, innovation-based, and community-based projects, interns gain practical experience that aligns with their career majors, interest and goals.

This program is a partnership between the Hudson County Improvement Agency (HCIA), Hudson County Economic Development Corporation (HCEDC) and local businesses to match motivated students with businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies. Built on an ACE framework: Apply, Connect, Elevate, this program equips you with career readiness training and experiential learning opportunities to ensure they make meaningful contributions to your business while gaining valuable experience.

Flexible Intern Pathways

Skill-Based Projects: Roles in construction management, field supervision, technical operations, admin support and skilled trades

Innovation-Based Projects: Roles in marketing, digital media, data analytics, entrepreneurship and business development.

Community-Based Projects: Roles in nonprofit, government agency, and community outreach.

  • Actively enrolled and good academic standing with partner school(s)
  • Minimum work availability of 10 hours per week
  • Required Career-Readiness Training
  • Complete 78 hours within the program semester, which includes readiness training for matched students.
  • Before intern placement, eligible students are required to complete career-readiness training to ensure they are well-prepared for the professional world.

Internship placements are based on local industry demand and availability, but all participants will receive valuable career-readiness training as preparation to support long-term career success.

Based on your selected industries of interest and internship roles, selected student participants will be matched with one of the following project experiences.

Flexible Internship Projects: You can select all the pathways that align with your interests—meaning you’re welcome to choose more than one.
Skill-Based Pathways: Roles in construction management, field supervision, technical operations, admin support and skilled trades

Some internships may start as early as 7 AM and end as late as 5 PM. Your matched company will coordinate directly with students ensuring scheduling flexibility.

* 35. We host monthly Career Readiness sessions to help you complete the required training before internship placement. After attending, you will receive a link to complete your pre-work and a 45-minute follow-up session, both required for placement. If matched as an intern, this training time will be paid.
