Peer Support Recruitment

The truest mark of a great Peer Support Team Member is that they are already fulfilling the role every day. They are the people that their coworkers already turn to for support in the daily routine of work.  These natural helpers are found in every station and office, and may be operations (of all ranks), staff members, and civilian employees.  They are those coworkers who are willing to take an extra step to help.

Some of the characteristics these people possess:

-          Are respected and trusted

-          Show compassion and empathy

-          Listen actively

-          Accept people with different opinions and values

The key is to find these people that are “natural” peer supporters.   The people that we already go to for support and advice, both professional and personal.

As you read the above, what people in the department came to your mind?  Please help us by sharing their names.   This survey will be used by the Peer Support Team Coordinator to help identify and reach out to the next group of people that may want to join the Peer Support Team.  Thank you for your time and input.
