Introduction

We are very keen to involve patient organisations in the upcoming advisory board meeting of the ESOT-ETPO alliance, to be held in conjunction with the ESOT congress in Milan, on the 28th of August. We would like to start the conversation early by sharing this short survey with you.

In the past few years, the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) has been working with transplant patient organisations throughout Europe to foster cooperation and dialogue between people with transplants and healthcare professionals, to ensure their representation and participation in ESOT activities, and to promote health and quality of life among the transplant population.

During the ESOT 2019 congress, ESOT hosted a meeting of 19 transplant patient organisations from 13 European countries. The meeting served as a space to exchange experiences, identify unmet needs, and develop a plan for future initiatives. Inspired by that meeting, and under the guidance of the European Donation and Transplant Coordination Organisation (EDTCO), the European platform on Ethical Legal Psychosocial Aspect of Transplantation (ELPAT) and the European Transplant Allied Healthcare Professionals (ETAHP) committee, we launched several initiatives aimed at listening to the needs of the community of people with transplants and building a platform of mutual understanding: the ESOT-ETPO (European Transplant Patient Organisations) alliance.

In our survey we want to capture your feedback on our activities over the past two years. We are also eager to hear your opinion and concrete suggestions on how we can develop this important work and best support and serve this network in the coming years in delivering on the objectives set by the mission statement and according to the core principles that are guiding the community.

This short survey will take approximately 10 minutes of your time and all answers will remain anonymous.

We thank you in advance for your input and we look forward to meeting you (online or in person) in Milan, at the ESOT Congress 2021.
