Mareeba Shire Waste Survey 2026

Now is the time to have your say on the future of recycling services in the Mareeba Shire.

Council is inviting residents to share their thoughts on the option of introducing fortnightly kerbside recycling and/or garden organics (GO) collection services in areas which already have general kerbside waste collection services.

These areas include: Mareeba; Kuranda; Julatten; Speewah; Dimbulah; Biboohra; Koah and Mt Molloy.

Your feedback will help shape the future of waste services in our Shire.

By sharing your opinions, you’re playing a key role in helping Council understand what matters most to our community.

How will the services work?

Recycling
If introduced, all households in the current general kerbside waste collection areas would receive a recycling bin which would be serviced fortnightly.

Garden organics (GO)
If introduced, all households in selected areas would receive a garden organics (GO) bin which would be serviced fortnightly. GO bins are for garden organics only (not for food scraps or compostables).

We value the perspectives of our residents and encourage you to share your input through this survey. The results will be carefully reviewed and considered as part of the decision-making process.

Council’s final decision will reflect a balanced assessment of community feedback, financial and operational feasibility, and long-term community interests.
