Family Experiences with School Risk Assessments |
Risk Assessment Experiences
Families as Allies is a statewide organization in Mississippi run by and for families of children with behavioral health and related challenges. We support each other and work together to help families get what they want for their children.
Families as Allies works with a Mississippi group of educators, researchers, mental health providers and families on Project AWARE. Project AWARE helps schools develop informal supports, mental health referrals and positive school climates so that all children feel safe and can learn at school.
We want to learn from Mississippi families what happens when the school notifies them that their child needs a risk assessment or exhibits behavior the school deems potentially dangerous. If your child's school has told you that your child needs a risk assessment or that the school thinks their behavior might be dangerous to them or someone else, we'd like to hear about your experience. All of your answers are confidential.
We appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey. Your answers will help us develop effective risk assessment policies. If you have questions about this survey or would like to help work on risk assessment policies, contact Joy Hogge, executive director at Families as Allies at info@faams.org or 601-355-0915. We will not share specific answers of the survey, but the overall results will be shared on the Families as Allies website.
