Family Friendly Workplaces

As part of its commitment to a healthy and productive business community, the Burnaby Board of Trade (via its Social Development Committee) is interested in assessing the extent to which its membership engages in “family-friendly” initiatives in their workplace, or otherwise promote a “family-friendly” environment.

2.ALTERNATE WORK ARRANGEMENTS:
We support work arrangements that help employees balance work-life/work family responsibilities (for example: flex time, job sharing, teleworking, compressed work week, etc.)
3.RECOGNITION OF CARE RESPONSIBILITIES:
We support employees with their dependent care responsibilities (for example, information about child care resources, emergency/sick child or elder care support, employees can bring child to work when needed, employee & family assistance plan, on-site work life seminars, etc.)
4.WORKPLACE CULTURE/ENVIRONMENT:
We promote a workplace culture and environment that promotes flexibility and work life balance (for example, managers are encouraged to respond positively when possible to their employee’s work life issues, discussions regarding work life balance issues are encouraged in the workplace, there are opportunities to learn about work life strategies)
