Question Title

* 1. How familiar are you with the need to address the Perry Local School District’s aging school buildings?

Question Title

* 2. Are you aware that if a bond levy passes in 2020, the state will contribute 62% or $80 million of the cost to renovate (high school) and construct (elementary and middle school) new facilities for the Perry Local School District?

It is cost prohibitive to renovate all school buildings. As such, the Perry Local School District, after extensive work with local community advisory groups, is presenting three overall facility plan options for consideration.

Please review the following overall three facility plan options and provide feedback.

Option Black (State Base Plan)
  • Two new elementary school buildings, grades PreK-5
  • One new middle school building, grades 6-8
  • Renovations to the Perry High School, grades 9-12
  • Would require purchase of additional land (two, 25-acre plots will be needed)
  • With two elementary buildings, there would be approximately 1,050 students in each building. Based upon best education practices, having more than 700 students per elementary building is not advantageous for student learning.
  • Cost to owner of $100,000 market value home - $13.25/month ($159/year)

Question Title

* 3. Based upon the description of Option Black, how supportive would you be of Option Black?

Option Gold
  • Three new elementary school buildings, grades PreK-5
  • One new middle school building, grades 6-8
  • Renovations to the Perry High School, grades 9-12
  • Would NOT require purchase of additional land (due to the smaller size of the schools and use of existing school properties)
  • With three elementary buildings, there would be approximately 700 students in each elementary building. Based upon best education practices, having approximately 700 students per elementary building is advantageous for student learning.¬†
  • Cost to owner of $100,000 market value home - $14.50/month ($174/year)

Question Title

* 4. Based upon the description of Option Gold, how supportive would you be of Option Gold?

Option White
  • Four new elementary school buildings, grades PreK-5
  • One new middle school building, grades 6-8
  • Renovations to the Perry High School, grades 9-12
  • Would NOT require purchase of additional land (due to the smaller size of the schools and use of existing school properties)
  • With four elementary buildings, there would be approximately 550 students in each elementary building. Based upon best education practices, having approximately 700 or less students per elementary building is advantageous for student learning.
  • Cost to owner of $100,000 market value home - $15.50/month ($186/year)

Question Title

* 5. Based upon the description of Option White, how supportive would you be of Option White?

Question Title

* 6. Considering the options as described, how supportive would you be of a tax levy for the renovation (high school) and construction (elementary and middle school) of new facilities?

Question Title

* 7. Now that you have had an opportunity to review the Black, Gold and White facility plans presented by the Perry Local School District, what comments and thoughts do you have regarding the options facing the district?
