2026 Rutherford ATHENA Scholarship Application

Applicant Eligibility Requirements:

Female Rutherford County resident who wants to continue or return to undergraduate school for an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
Has been out of high school five years or longer.
Is a graduate of any high school or has earned a GED.
Is a student in or an applicant for admission to any associate’s or bachelor’s degree program.
Submits a letter verifying enrollment or completed admission process by February 7th, 2027.

The Scholarship recipient will be notified on March 14, 2027 and will be invited to the Patrons Society event on April 8, 2027 @ 5 - 7 pm in the evening. During the Rutherford ATHENA Award Program on May 14, 2027, the recipient will be recognized and presented with the scholarship. The event starts at 11:00 am.

Application Process:
The application and copies of all of the documents listed below must be submitted electronically by February 7, 2027 before the application will be considered complete.
To complete the application, four (4) documents must be uploaded to this application.

Two letters of reference on official stationery focusing on academic potential, leadership abilities, need, and worthiness of student written by a) a former teacher or supervisor or b) a person who is familiar with the student’s potential to be successful in a higher education program of study. If the person writing the letter wishes to send it directly, email it to Attn: ATHENA scholarship chair, at ATHENA@rutherfordcable.org
A copy of your high school transcript. If you have attended college previously, a copy of your college transcript, as well, and a copy of your high school diploma or GED certificate.
A copy of a letter from the college or school verifying your completion of application materials and/or admission no later than February 21st, 2025.
