How Green is Your School?

Climate change, global warming and energy efficiency are highly topical issues.

They affect us all.

NASUWT believes that everybody, every workplace and every school can play a part in creating a more energy efficient, sustainable environment in which to live.

A number of organisations already provide advice to school leaders, teachers and students on how to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change by cutting heating, lighting and energy use in schools. Many schools already engage in environmental sustainability practices.

NASUWT is committed to ensuring that approaches to environmental sustainability within schools operate alongside, and not counter to, the Union’s work to defend and improve working conditions for teachers and headteachers.

To this end, the Union is conducting an e-mail survey of members in schools, colleges and educational establishments throughout the UK. You can help us to gauge the extent to which these issues are already embedded in schools, how they are being addressed and the implications for teachers.

Many thanks for your assistance.

NB *References to ‘school’ should be taken to mean the school, college or other establishment at which you work, as appropriate.
