"When I first heard that a CELC racial task force/discussion group was being formed I was skeptical of what value it might have for me. I never think of myself as being racist. But I look around at the despair that our nation is experiencing and it makes me wonder about myself. I recognize that I was raised and matured in an environment that interacted very little with minorities. So how could I be sure that I wasn't a racist? I never want to hurt anyone's feelings or make them feel inferior. So when the Church offered me a chance to become part of the Racist Taskforce, I felt a driving need to join in the hope that I would become more aware of what racism is and what I can do to be more sensitive to the inequalities. I think many of us can benefit from that experience." - Karen Landry, Member of CELC
