1. Default Section

Before you start, make sure you have a paper and writing utensil handy.

For each of the following images, write down any impressions, associations, emotions, or other reactions the image/the person in the image evoke. Don't stop to think about it--try to write down the first impressions, ideas, concepts, associations, adjectives, etc. that come to mind.

Your reactions can include anything--the individuals' appearances, prior knowledge you may have of the individual, or even something totally, or seemingly, unrelated to the individual and the image. Among other things, consider how you would measure these individuals on things like credibility, leadership, friendliness/ approachability, etc. (this applies whether or not you are familiar with the individual(s) pictured).

There are no right or wrong answers in completing this exercise, and obviously your answers will be known only to you.

Do not scroll down to the next image until you have written down your words or phrases for the one above it.

Now, if you have a few extra minutes, please visit this site:

https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/

and take one of the brief quizzes measuring implicit biases in things like gender, race, etc. Consider how such implicit biases may or may not have played a part in the ways you responded to the images above.

Thank you for participating in this project!
