Who: Available to emergency medicine residents PGY level 2-4 during the July 2021 - June 2022 academic year
What: Be appointed to the Grants Committee as a Resident Reviewer
Term: September 2021-May 2022
Details: You will participate in the grant review process as well as have the opportunity to participate in other Grants Committee meetings and objectives. You will be assigned a Grants Committee faculty mentor who will mentor you on evaluating and scoring grants. Research experience is not necessary, nor is it necessary that you have research faculty within your program to help support you. Participation in the grant review process will further allow you to build your knowledge base regarding how to write the strongest grant.

Responsibilities include: (1) Complete grant review training provided by the Grants Committee. (2) Read and score the grants assigned to you with guidance from your Grants Committee faculty mentor. (3) Participate in a grant review session. The in-person grant review session will be held during the ACEP scientific assembly, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 24, 2021 in Boston, MA. While attendance in person yields the best learning experience, some subcommittees meet virtually and you will be asked to join one of these if you cannot commit to in person attendance. (4) Participate on monthly Grants Committee calls at your discretion.
