The Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation is accepting applications from Parks and Recreation Professionals for professional development opportunities. The scholarship for up to $1,000 was established in memory of Parks and Recreation legend Al Johnson, long time Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Richardson, Texas, past-president of TRAPS and founding member of the Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation.
- Applicants must be employed by a Texas Parks and Recreation agency.
- Awardees will be asked to write an article for publication on how the professional development scholarship benefitted them after attending requested training/school/conference.
- Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to attend the Texas Recreation and Park Society Annual Conference to accept the award. The conference dates are February 10-13, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
