25th Legislative District -- Pre-session Issue Survey Question Title * 1. In the past year, how have rising costs affected you and/or your family the most? (Choose all that apply) Gas and transportation (fuel, vehicle fees, etc.) Groceries and household essentials Housing (property taxes, rent, insurance, etc.) Health care (premiums, services, insurance, etc.) Child care Education costs (supplies, services, etc.) Small business costs, taxes, and fees Outdoor recreation (Discover Pass, concession costs, licenses, etc.) All of the above Not applicable Other (please specify and/or share your story) Question Title * 2. What best describes your view on the group of tax increases passed during the 2025 legislative session, which was the largest in state history (totaling nearly $12.5 billion over four years)? They make our state a less affordable place to live, work, and play. They were necessary to fund government priorities. Unsure/Need more information. Not applicable Other (please specify and/or share your story) Question Title * 3. Housing costs in Washington are higher than the national average, and many families struggle to pay rising property taxes and rents. Which of these would you advise legislators to do? (Choose one) Focus on limiting or eliminating property-tax increases. Work to make rent more affordable. Reduce building regulations to increase the housing supply. Address all these issues – property taxes, building regulations, and rent affordability. Do nothing – housing in Washington isn’t too expensive, and there are other issues to focus on. Unsure/Need more information. Not applicable Other (please specify and/or share your story) Question Title * 4. Prices for gas and diesel in Washington are among the nation's highest because of climate policies unique to our state and the third-highest gas tax in the U.S. (59 cents per gallon). Which best describes your opinion? (Choose all that apply) I will travel out of state to buy cheaper fuel when I can. If I'm going to pay more for gas because of climate policies, I want assurance that the policies are reducing carbon emissions. I question whether highway-project funding generated by the state gas tax is being spent efficiently and benefiting all corners of our state. I am OK with paying a higher gas tax than most states. I trust the officials who created the climate policies and believe these requirements are worth the cost. Not applicable Other (please specify and/or share your story) Question Title * 5.
