OVERVIEW

Thank you for your interest in serving on the Lived Experience Advisory Committee (LEAC). The LEAC functions in an advisory capacity to the Continuum of Care (CoC) Board and is intended to ensure that the voices and perspectives of people with current and/or past lived experience of homelessness are elevated in the decision-making process of the Orange County CoC. Further, the LEAC is responsible for making recommendations for improvement, providing input on development, and sharing feedback on improving the quality and types of services provided within the CoC.

The LEAC responsibilities are shaped around supporting the CoC, the CoC Board and its committees and working groups in the development and improvement of the CoC and completing activities in accordance with § 578.7 Responsibilities of the Continuum of Care and in the Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing (HEARTH) Act and § 578.79.

Youth Representative Application and Selection Process
The Office of Care Coordination, on behalf of the LEAC membership and the Orange County CoC, is facilitating the recruitment and selection process for a Youth Representative (ages 18 - 24) to serve on the LEAC. The Youth Representative Interest Form and opportunity description has been made available on the CoC webpage and via email to the CoC distribution list and local providers serving youth experiencing homelessness. Please review the Youth Representative opportunity description here for additional information: LEAC Youth Representative Opportunity Description

Once the applicants have completed the Youth Representative Interest Form, the Office of Care Coordination and LEAC Chair and Vice Chair will review Interest Forms received and identify a qualified applicant based on the responses provided. The Office of Care Coordination will then communicate with all applicants to share information on next steps. The selected applicant will then be presented with an opportunity to meet with the Office of Care Coordination staff and LEAC Chair and Vice Chair as well as attend a LEAC meeting to determine if they would like to proceed with the opportunity. Finally, the selected applicant will confirm their desire to serve on the LEAC.
