What do Holyoke Youth Commissioners do?
Youth Commissioners find out what other young people want and need in their community.
They meet with the Mayor and State Representative to provide youth voice on youth issues. 
Youth Commissioners work on promoting youth voice, tobacco education, personal development, political and community issues. 
Youth Commissioners attend special events, conferences and workshops to gain important skills.
Youth Commissioners lead the way for other youth!
 
What have we done?
In 2017
Hosted a day long youth conference 
Created a 10 year youth vision map
Hosted Tobacco prevention Workshops
Hosted a Driving under the Influence awareness workshop
College trips
Hosted the only Youth Pride dance in Holyoke
Facilitated a workshop for community leaders on economic justice
Got a free certification in CPR and First Aid
Filled the non-voting youth seat on Holyoke City Council
Created the photovoice project on what teens do at night in Holyoke
Partnered with the library and Wisteriahurst to discuss the school to prison pipeline


In 2018 we hope to
 
Attend a 3 day youth retreat
Create more youth led workshops for the community
Host a youth summer event with slip and slide kickball
Work  with city officials to implement our youth vision plan
Collect toiletries to WomanShelter
Expand our social justice knowledge to help change the world
Create peer leaders to host sexual health, healthy relationships, and dating violence prevention
