Bon Voyage...

This Survey seeks to establish potential interest in future tours of Yale 63 classmates and their travel partners.  Besides the adventures, custom tours  provide many opportunities during events, travel, and meals to share life experiences with our Y63 classmates.

This Survey seeks to identify tours that have the most appeal to the largest numbers of us.  For the most popular tours we will develop detailed itineraries and budgets and present a final package for classmates to consider.

There have already been two successful Yale 1963 tours.  In 2015, 54 of us spent 2-1/2 weeks in France.  We toured Burgundy in a barge, explored castles in the Loire Valley, visited World War II sites in Normandy and explored museums in Paris.  In 2016 41 of us took a 21 day bus tour of the British Isles that included England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the English Lakes District.

Yale Educational Travel offers alumni tours, but they typically include alumni from a wide range of classes.  Limiting our tours to the Class of 1963 makes travel more familiar, enjoyable and personal for us.  Being self-produced, previous class tours have been considerably less expensive than those offered by Yale Educational Travel.

To be successful, each tour will need one or several of us as tour sponsors/coordinators to handle all of the details as Jon Larson and a few volunteers did for our two previous Y63 tours.  Please indicate in this survey if you are interested in serving as a tour coordinator or assistant for any of your preferred tours.

The costs for the tours will be 100% born by the participants. The Y63 Class and Council will have zero financial responsibility to contribute to the expenses. In some tours we will select and retain a professional tour agent to help manage the tour and handle air travel bookings.

The tours will be operated as non-profit group educational tours but with no tax benefits to travelers.

This will be cost-based travel.  Our Y63 travel coordinators are volunteer and pay their own way.  Costs for tours in this survey are estimated to range from $1,400 to $7,000 pp. plus airfare.  Some side tours are optional and are not priced into these estimates.

Nine tours suggested by classmates are included below.  Please indicate your interest in each one.  We might pick the two or three most popular tours and offer one every year.  You can also  suggest other tour(s) that you think might be of interest to our class.

Your responses to this Survey will help us to plan the details for popular shared Y63 tours.  Unlike our Tour de France and our British Isles tour which were pre-packaged for a single pre-paid price, participants in these events will make their own reservations and pay for their own expenses to include the cruise, cruise excursions ashore, rental car, airfare, hotels and meals off the ship.

And recognizing that we are continuing to advance in years, these planned tours will be designed for comfort, minimum shlepping of baggage and packing and unpacking, with alot of free time to relax and explore at one own's pace, and of course emphasize the sharing of fine wines and meals with good conversation together.

For now, please take five minutes and complete the survey which will help Jon to complete the detailed planning and make a final list of tours we can plan between now and our 60th reunion in 2023.  All classmates and partners are most welcome.  We will dine together and enjoy excursions together in a most intimate and shared and relaxed environment.  And arrive in New Haven refreshed and ready to enjoy the fabulous 60th "Free" Reunion with a large number of already familiar faces to enjoy at the reunion.

Check our Yale63 web site at  www.yale63.org for more details as Y63 Group Travel planning progresses.
