The Assistant Minister for Competition, Charities and Treasury, the Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP, is consulting the charity sector to gain an understanding of current issues. Your responses to this survey are an important part of the Minister’s research.

Any personal information you submit in this survey will be collected for the purpose of the Minister’s research. Participation in this survey is voluntary and you can exit the survey at any time. At any time during or after the survey, you can request that the Minister does not use your contact details for future research.

The Commonwealth Department of the Treasury supports the Minister and acts as his secretariat in privacy matters. Your personal information will be stored in the Treasury’s systems and will be accessed by ministerial and Treasury staff who are involved in managing the survey and conducting the research. Personal information will also be stored and held in accordance with the Minister’s and the Treasury’s obligations under the Archives Act 1983 (Cth). For further information, including how to request access to or correct your personal information, or how to make a privacy complaint, please refer to the Treasury’s Privacy Policy. The survey platform is conducted by Survey Monkey according to the Survey Monkey Privacy Policy. This policy says your information and data may be processed in or disclosed in the United States and other countries where Survey Monkey’s affiliates are located or have servers. No personal information will be shared by the Minister or the Treasury with an overseas recipient. If you have any concerns, you do not have to participate in or continue with the survey.

This survey is part of the Minister’s ongoing research into the charity sector. Aggregate and anonymised survey data may be published in a report prepared by the Minister or the Treasury. The aggregated and anonymised survey data may be shared with other Ministers and government departments and agencies, or to other consultants and researchers, for further research purposes and/or to inform Government decision making.

* 2. The Australian Government is partnering with Australian charities to develop a blueprint for increasing the capacity and capability of Australian charities.

We’ve set up an expert steering group to work with Treasury and the Department of Social Services to draft a sector-led plan that will show us what support the charity sector needs from government in order to reach its potential.
