Informed Consent

You are being invited to participate in a study about human sexuality. The objective of this research project is to further understand human sexual behavior, preferences, and ideologies. The survey is being conducted using SurveyMonkey and distributed via email.

If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to answer questions about your sexual experiences and preferences. The survey should takeĀ 15-20 minutes to complete.

There are few risks or costs if you decide to participate in this research study. Some survey questions are of a graphic sexual nature. The survey includes one question that asks the participant to describe a consensual but non-enjoyable sexual experience they have had. Although not intended, some questions may trigger negative emotional response, particularly from survivors of sexual assault. Should a question trigger any severe negative emotion, please seek professional help immediately.

The National Sexual Assault Hotline is open 24/7 and can be reached at (800) 656-4673.

One may contact the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN) via online webchat with the following link:

Otherwise, there is no risk greater than that which is encountered on a daily basis.

There are no direct benefits to participation. However, indirect benefits include contributing to academic research.

Respondents will not be compensated for participating in the survey.

Your participation in this study is voluntary. You have the right to cease participation at any time. You may skip any question that makes you too uncomfortable.
