This survey is being distributed to gather information about source-separation of organic materials and donation of edible food in Wasco in preparation for a new state law, SB 1383.

The City’s organic materials recycling program includes the collection and recycling of leftover food scraps, food soiled paper like coffee filters and pizza boxes, and yard clippings and vegetative matter.

SB 1383 will require all cities in California to amend their municipal code before January 1, 2022 to include mandatory separation of organic materials, and require donation of edible food from qualifying businesses. The City is required to begin enforcement on non-compliant customers (January 1, 2024).
