Every two years, Mason PUD 3 updates its Resource Plan to show what power we will need to meet customer needs over the next ten years. The full outline of the resource plan requirements can be found in RCW 19.280.

The PUD’s mission is to connect our community with safe, reliable, economical, and sustainable service, 24/7. Currently the PUD’s Mix of Energy Resources is 96% carbon free. We purchase nearly all our power from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), with 83% coming from renewable hydropower, 2% renewable wind, 11% carbon-free nuclear, and 4% unspecified (BPA power market purchases with unknown energy sources).

Power resource planning can be a balancing act between three main goals:
1. Achieve 100% clean energy,
2. Keep the lights on, and
3. Keep rates affordable.
