Your delegates have unanimously endorsed the WA Road to Respect campaign for a fairer and safer Bus Industry. The centerpiece of the Road to Respect is one agreement that delivers strong wage increases and the same conditions for every bus driver, regardless of who they work for. This is the 2nd Survey that will be conducted across the entire bus industry to build your claim for one industry-wide agreement.
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN BUS DRIVERS DESERVE SAME JOB, SAME PAY AND A LIVING WAGE!
Over the last few years your conditions have been eroded. From the time you sign on till the time it takes to fuel a bus, the timing points and the time in runs themselves have been cut and chopped to suit the PTA. The Turnaround times have been slashed to a minimum of 2 minutes and in some cases to as little as 1-minute hard links. This is unsafe! It puts pressure on the drivers to stop going to the toilet, speed to catch up time and threatens the safety of the driver, their passengers and everyone that shares the road. The Metronet has taken precedence over the Bus Industry. WA bus drivers deserve to be treated fairly. You are not a robot; you are an essential service that transports thousands of people on a daily basis and should be respected as such.
