Calling all creative youth residing in downtown Erie!

We are giving 10 students the ability to share their voice in our city through filmmaking. 

Students selected to take part in this program will work with filmmakers, John C. Lyons and Soraya Johnson, to make a short video for the 1st annual New Horizons Youth Film Festival through Erie Arts & Culture's Creating with Community Artist Residency Program. Selected students will take part in a two-month process of learning the basics of writing, directing, and editing their own film. Students will create their own short film on their own time, with the assistance of the filmmakers, incorporating one or more of these themes: Selected students will take part in a two-month process of learning the basics of writing, directing, and editing their own film. These films will be showcased at an event (possibly virtual) in late October. 

To participate in New Horizons, students must fit these requirements as follows: 

Grades 8-11
Must reside in 16501, 16502, 16503, and 16507 zip codes
Available Tuesdays and Thursdays (July 21 - August 13)
Computer or Mobile device with Internet Access for meetings via Zoom.
Access to a Mobile Device with video capability.

The deadline to apply is July 17 at midnight.
