New DET Enrolment Policy
Penshurst Girls HS and Hurstville Boys HS are the feeder schools for the majority of students from Mortdale PS, Oatley West PS, Oatley PS, Penshurst West PS, and parts of Hurstville South PS and Penshurst PS. The closest co-ed high school is Peakhurst HS, but it is considered "out of area" for students in the Oatley, Oatley West and Mortdale areas, and students must apply as out of area students with no guarantee that they will be accepted.
The new DET enrolment policy will severely limit the educational choice of high schools, as out of area students will not be accepted at high schools that are near/at/over their cap. This will remove the possibility of our students attending co-ed schools in the Shire which have historically been very popular (high schools such as Kirrawee, Menai, Port Hacking, Jannali, etc) because they are currently over their cap.

Students will now be effectively forced to attend their local high school, and for many families in this area, that means a single-sex high school (Penshurst Girls or Hurstville Boys).
In light of this new policy, and with the additional restrictions of the Georges River College enrolment policy which limits the ability to attend a co-ed high school, the P&Cs of local schools are seeking data on parents' preferences surrounding the three GRC junior campuses.
One response per family please.
