Community Input - Hazards and Impacts

As part of this planning process, we would like to gather community input about the types of hazards which may impact your area. Please take a moment to review the following questions and share your thoughts. Any information you provide will help support the development of a robust hazard mitigation plan.

4.Heat islands are urbanized areas that experience higher temperatures than outlying areas. Structures such as buildings, roads, and other infrastructure absorb and re-emit the sun’s heat more than natural landscapes such as forests and water bodies. Utilizing native vegetation, instead of foreign grasses, can also decrease water utilization and support pollinator populations.

Would you support the integration of more native vegetation in your area to decrease heat island impacts?

The purpose of returning to riparian environment of a stream, wash, or river to a more natural state is to reduce runoff, create habitat for species, and/or improve an area's aesthetics.
