What is the purpose of this survey?
THE PURPOSE OF THIS SURVEY IS TO COLLECT STUDENT, PARENT, AND PUBLIC INPUT ON THE CTE PROGRAMS THAT SOMERSET COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL OFFER SOMERSET STUDENTS IN THE NEAR AND LONG TERM FUTURE.
Maryland has ten Career Clusters that each offer CTE programs. This survey will take you through each cluster and explain the programs that we already offer. It then describes each new program that we could offer and we asks your opinion about whether it is a good choice. Obviously, we can offer everything so we want to look at all the angles before making a decision. A variety of types of data will be considered including student and public interest, availability of existing and future jobs, competition with similar programs, and cost and sustainability.
We are currently conducting a State required Feasibility Study to decide the best way to take advantage of available State School Construction Money IN WHICH THE STATE PAYS 100% OF THE CONSTRUCTION COSTS DURING THE YEARS FROM 2016-2019.
Whether we end up with a renovation or a new building, the result will be a school that will need to serve Somerset County for forty years and our students deserve the best preparation for entry into the work place or post-graduate education.
