About this Survey
Childhood Dementia Initiative is building evidence of barriers to childhood dementia research in Australia. We also want to better understand the capacity for more research into childhood dementia, and how your research can be supported more.
Findings from this survey will support our advocacy for more research funding and help prioritise efforts to address research infrastructure gaps.
Who should complete this survey?
Anybody currently engaged in childhood dementia research in Australia or with an interest in starting research in this area. This includes all types of research, such as lab based, clinical, psychosocial and allied health.

Survey closes Friday 23 August.
About childhood dementia
Childhood dementia is caused by over 100 progressive, genetic conditions that damage the brain and nervous system. Each year, an estimated 107 babies are born in Australia with a condition that will lead to childhood dementia. Childhood dementia is so severe, and treatment options so limited, that half of all children die before they’re 10.
Childhood Dementia Initiative started in 2020, and plays a key role in accelerating research into treatments and cures for children with dementia.
