Here is some more information and context about the PYAP:

PYAP brings together 20 2SLGBTQ+ youth from across Ontario to strengthen leadership skills, and build community. This year, PYAP will have two streams that you can apply for:

  • Outreach & Engagement: Join a team of 10 other Youth Ambassadors to lead outreach and engagement initiatives including tabling at Pride/community festivals (in person and/or virtually), facilitating presentations and workshops within youth groups/spaces, and connecting with local 2SLGBTQ+ communities and organizations.

  • Podcasts & Digital Media: Working as a team, 10 Youth Ambassadors will come together to create a podcast series from start to finish! With the support of a program coordinator and mentors, YA’s will learn the process of creating a podcast, including visioning/ideation, script writing, recording, editing, and launching!

It’s up to you which stream you’d like to apply for!

For both streams, YA’s are encouraged to take on specific aspects of the project that they are most interested in! YAs will have access to ongoing training, skill-building, mentorship, project funding and staff support throughout the entirety of the 10-month program. YA’s will also be invited to regular socials and wellness workshops, in collaboration with LGBT YouthLines’ other volunteer programs!

An access fund is available to support YA’s in participating fully in the PYAP. Once accepted into the program, YA’s can apply for support via the access fund.

Supports could include: internet/phone stipends, food gift cards, child care support and/or tech needs, among others.

PYAP runs for a total of 10 months and requires a commitment of 120 hours from each Youth Ambassador during that time.

LGBT YouthLine recognizes the many barriers youth face in seeking opportunities for mentorship and growth. In light of this, we strive to provide supportive and inclusive skill-development to youth who are often marginalized and devalued.

We encourage applications from Indigenous youth, youth from African/Caribbean/Black communities, youth of colour, trans youth, single parents, refugees, immigrants, working class youth, and youth with disabilities.
