“I Came Up With This Too” – Innovations to Take Back to Work

Back by popular demand, the National Young Professional (YP) committee will be hosting the session "I Came Up With This Too" - Innovations to Take Back to Work.

This YP presentation will highlight innovations from around the country – both big and small – that have been developed and implemented by professionals at all levels of their organizations. This interactive conversation will invite attendees to share their ideas, successes, and even challenges they have experienced at their organizations.

Innovation comes in many forms. It can be a revolutionary invention that reduces expenses, a slight process modification that streamlines work or an activity that builds moral & workplace culture. We want to hear about it all!
 
Don’t be fooled by the “young professionals” tagline, this session is for anyone and everyone looking to exchange ideas on successful (and not-so-successful) change in their organizations to take back to work!

1. Created and maintained a "birthday/work anniversary calendar" for staff to be celebrated on their special day - helped to build community and connections within the team.

2. Advertised ENTRY level public work positions directly to local engineering schools on a quarterly basis within each APWA branch - created awareness of public works and bring YPs into the organization
